I think he was referring to:

   West Coast Hotel Co. v. Parrish (1937)

Famous as "the switch in time that saved nine" and which introduced a
doctrine of "reasonable regulation" of liberty.

and

   United States v. Carolene Products (1938)

which presumes constitutionality of laws regulating commerce but which
included some limitations in "Footnote Four".

But you can tell that Chermerinsky is really blowing smoke when he
mentions, "all government economic regulations are upheld so long as they
are reasonable".  It is too far a stretch to suggest that gun control
legislation is "economic regulation".
