There is nothing illogical about concluding that Martin intended to
kill one burglar and not to kill the other one.
I suppose some people are willing to go only so far for the public
weal, and no farther. But considering how little additional effort it
would have taken to kill the other burglar, I think it is fair to
chastise Martin for failing to make the extra effort required for a
clean sweep.
