Hitler led a political party that was a major player in German
elections from 1930 forward. To call him a "virtual nobody"
before 1933 is simply incorrect. The lowering of the voting
age to 18 in 1932 certainly assisted the Nazis, allowing them
to benefit from the votes of both idealistic college students
("Gemeinnuetz vor Einnuetz") and many of their professors and Gymnasium
teachers.
