Yes and know. Not sure about South America, but in Russia (I did not 
check myself, but trust people who said it) average firebird user 
becomes older and older. If we have a chance to attract younger people 
we should better not miss it. I do not suggest to use JDBC as main API - 
I prefer even not try to imagine

at least yvalve. But adding JDBC at the top of calls makes no danger - 
one who prefers JDBC will be able to use it. And such change may be done 
at almost any moment - our master interface can be easily extended with 
new call to access jdbc interface. When I have time I can take a look at 
how much job is needed to bring vulcan code to jdbc standard. It should 
start to work almost at once - it's based on ISC API which is still 
present (and probably will be present) for a long time.
