LC> Are we really that desperate for a new version?

I'm afraid so. At last in Brazil, currently situation is becoming
alarming at least. I hear more and more people saying that Firebird
became "zumbi" project. Firebird 3 release became kind of myth here,
and some people even think it will never get released. Remember, most
users doesn't follow fb-devel and new releases are the only way they
use to find that project is actually active.

As the organizer of the Firebird Developers Day conference, I can say
that this situation is also affecting the conference's number of
attendees. No new releases = nothing new to talk about. We already had
11 editions of FDD, almost every feature available up to FB 2.5 was
already discussed. This year I had to accept some talks that are not
direct related to Firebird, to avoid having to repeat old subjects (I
already spoke 2 times about FB 3 in past editions, and it is still not
released). This affects the number of attendees in a negative way, as
well the amount of money collected in the conference to be donated to
Foundation.

So, IMHO, we need to do whatever needs to be done, but in a way that
will not delay FB 3 anymore. I know all of our core developers are
working as hard as they can, sorry if I'm putting some pressure, but
that's how I'm feeling things here.
