Check timing, The most common mistake is installing plug wires for a CW rotation like the Chevies. Pontiac distributors are reverse rotation. Also check to make sure you have the correct firing order. IMO. Hello all. I'm tiring to crank my bird for the first time since I put all new timing chain, water pump, intake & an eldelbrock 1406 carb. The problem I'm having is that it keeps back firing or blowing the gas out of the carb. It also has new plugs & wires.
