The convertible Firebirds had stronger rocker panels, x-panels, additional floor reinforcement and coctail shakers to dampen body oscillations that the stronger coupe platorm didn't suffer from. I would recommend scratching this notion. When you're done with the body stiffening and modificaitons, you still have a body tag and VIN on the car that says this was a coupe. If you want a convertible, start with a convertible project. Larry

Perhaps a hair brain idea but has anyone converted their coupe to a convertible? I rounded up the convertible parts in the CI catalogue using kits where possible and it looks like it's about $3600. My roof is a little warped (I think it's fixable) from an overambitious sandblaster that couldn't follow directions so it's got me thinking about this. Any advice?
