Larry,
How did you decide that the block is a total loss and that the crank
hadn't been turned? If you have a new mechanic tearing down the engine,
you may be able to use his diagnosis against the original builder.

List,
My high dollar ($9000) 455 engine, built by an alleged
Pontiac "Guru" from Longmont, Colorado (actually
recommended in Jim Hands book, look him up there and
stay away from him) is a write off. The only thing
salvagable are the heads. Car had 9 miles on it. All
bearing disintegrated. The "Geru" thought he would
save himself some labor and charged me for turning the
crank. He never did this, just polished it and left it
standard. The bearings self destructed because of too
much clearance.
