Did you pay by credit card? If so, and you haven't paid the bill,
dispute the charge. If that's not an option, document his subsequent
statements to you and what the new builder finds. Both will be very
valuable if you decide to take the guy to court.
If the guy bored the cylinders correctly, .060 should be useable, though
it was a stupid thing for him to do, and it makes the rest of his work
suspect, like proper decking, crank and cam line honing and any head
work. Starting over with a standard-bore block may be cheaper in the
long run.
Good luck,
Andy

The block, the guru bored .60 over in all holes,
because he said one cylinder was corroded and he
didn't want to sleeve just one cyl. The rest would
have cleaned up with a .10 over bore. It turns out he
does not have the equipment in his shop to do the
sleeve. I may have spoken too soon on the block,
there appears to be a scuffing in one of the bores. I
now have it in a quality machine shop. They will be
cleaning it up and doing a complete evaluation.
I have chosen not to build an engine bored .60 over
and will go with a different block.
The guru did offer to rebuild it again for $2500 and
could not understand why I didn't take him up on his
offer.

Larry
