First Generation Firebird-L Mailing List ......................................................................... First, the guru admitted he had not turned the crank or replaced the rear seal as I had paid him to do. In addition, the bearings had no over size markings, indicating that they were standard. The crank was originally std., the guru said it could go std. but would be pushing the specs. I told him to take it .10 under. The crank will probably now have to be turned .30 under to clean it up if that is even possible. When I asked about not turning the crank and replacing the seals as agreed to, the guru told me that he was the engine builder and he would determine what needed to be done to the engine. He had no reply when I then said , "but I am the customer." He will not return my calls. The block, the guru bored .60 over in all holes, because he said one cylinder was corroded and he didn't want to sleeve just one cyl. The rest would have cleaned up with a .10 over bore. It turns out he does not have the equipment in his shop to do the sleeve. I may have spoken too soon on the block, there appears to be a scuffing in one of the bores. I now have it in a quality machine shop. They will be cleaning it up and doing a complete evaluation. I have chosen not to build an engine bored .60 over and will go with a different block. The guru did offer to rebuild it again for $2500 and could not understand why I didn't take him up on his offer. regards, Larry Denver ____________________________________________________________________________________ Be a better friend, newshound, and know-it-all with Yahoo!
