Sheen,

You could try the manganese phosphate coating system from Duracoat. I found
it available through Midway USA. www.midwayusa.com. They cator mostly to gun
fans for blueing corossive resistant blue/black gun barrels and bodies.

I haven't tried the kit yet. You are supposed to be able to media blast and
clean your hardware and then do a manganezed pasivation coating on the steel
with the chemical. The resulting surface is supposed to be similar in color to
the original finish on the hardware bolts. The second step includes an oil
that clings to the pores in the passivated surface. It should last better than
oiling raw bolts.

Any suggestions on what to coat nuts and bolts with after you have sandblasted
or wire wheeled off the original plating? I was wondering if I could just get
away with coating them in lithium grease to keep them from rusting. I bought
the Totally Stainless body and engine kits but there are still a lot of others
that are not in the kit.

Thanks,
Sheen
