My thought was that it seems strange that he'd claim it's a RAIII engine
without providing the code. It seems even stranger that he'd make that
claim when the engine has an aftermarket cam and intake. You should do
some research to see where the power band is with high-lift rockers and
that cam to see how streetable the engine would really be.
As for the painted plug, it could just be that someone threw old plugs
in for painting.

I'm not really all that concerned with the original application, i was
just wondering if this seems like a square deal for a 400 motor
already built. Heck, one estimate i got for rebuilding my 326 was
2500. I talked to the guy and asked a few questions and he said the
motor has less than 1000 miles on it, it was pulled out because the
car was wrecked. He told me the name of the shop that did all the
machine work and said he had all the paperwork from the build. I told
him i was looking for a strong motor that was streetable. He said that
this one would be great then. I figured it'd be worth looking at, take
along a wrench and turn it over a couple times to see if there's any
spots that drag or grind. It just kind of makes me leary that the add
says 'as is' and the spark plug in the photo looks as if it was
painted with the block, like it was cleaned up and had paint slapped
on it and it was never really run in a car.
