First Generation Firebird-L Mailing List ......................................................................... Bingo!! My filter bracket tilts inward and has the sender hole towards the rear. Sounds like a simple fix to switch to the correct oil filter bracket. Does anyone have an extra one for sale? (I really don't want to cannibalize parts from my numbers matching 1969 engine unless its unavoidable).
Thank you for explaining this to me, as it was not at all obvious to me! There are 2 different oil filter brackets that the filter screws on to. One is for GTO's and tilts the filter inward towards the engine, with the sender hole towards the rear. The other is for firebirds and points the filter straight down, with the sender hole towards the fender. You need to have the firebird bracket. With the long branch adaptor, the firebird filter bracket will work OK and there will be room for the filter. I had the same problem and the guys on the first gen site straightened me out. There's a recent thread there discussing this. Bob S. ____________________________________________________________________________________ Be a better friend, newshound, and know-it-all with Yahoo!
