It would do that at 1/2 throttle and more pedal didn't make any difference. All I can say is God protects fools and drunks, cause if it could go faster, I probably would have, at 16YO. And the car was floating like on a cloud. I shudder to think of bias ply wide ovals I was driving on at that speed.... At 140 you must have been out of brake pedal by the time you were down to 90. Those drums would heat up fast. It was better to let off the brake pedal a moment and try again. I bought the Baer brake kit. It bolted up okay on the drum spindles and 15" Ralley II fit over with margin. I don't see folks kicked out of the classic into the modified class at shows for 15 inch rims. I think they look correct enough when safety is in the balance. Larry

I've been putting off the conversion because I didn't want to have to buy a set of 15" Rally IIs, and I've had good luck with drums for 26 years (except for the time I blew an intersection at 65 because it was taking too long to stop from 140).
