First Generation Firebird-L Mailing List .........................................................................
One of my fondest "make it happen" road experiences was being broken down in Lake Tahoe in a 70's VW bus with a broken throttle cable in a cold December. The channel that feeds the cable from accelerator all the way to the back of the car was rusted/gummed up and we could not feed the new cable through it. We ended up "high-lining" it through the deck lid into the back hatch of the car and I had my buddy operate the throttle cable while we made our way down the mountain to Sacramento. It was a coordinated 1-2-3 ready shift operation with two guys just wanting to get home. Fond memory but a little older now and not interested in reliving that...specialy since the buddy is gone and not too sure the wife could get the timing right. Thus, I'll be buying a new throttle cable. Sad but true, conservatism and age seem to grow hand-in-hand.
