Generally speaking, I hate most boards for the very reasons you mentioned. It takes forever to track down the messages of interest. Plus I read some messages on my Blackberry and email messages are very easy to read. Trying to navagate a Board would be a nightmare on the little screen plus the connection isn't all that fast for the heavy graphics most boards have. The only "boards" that are simple to use are Yahoo Groups. I have a 64 T-bird and there is a very active yahoo group for them and anyone can upload pictures or files and it's easy for everyone to find anything. Messages can be relayed to people just like this list or you can read them online.

Here, all of the posts come to me (I use an email client that downloads messages. I rarely read email online unless I'm traveling), and I can deal with the stream of messages as they come in. I can see threads and can read, save or delete messages at will. With the boards, it looks like I'd have to log on to the site and drill into each and every topic if I wanted to see all the posts. Is that right? With 14700 topics, that would be a lot of drilling, but if there is a lot more going on, it may be worth it. When everything comes to me, I can plow through a lot of message very quickly, but if I have to seek them out and drill down through nearly 15000 topics, I sense a huge increase in the time required. Based on your number of postings, the boards seem to work well for you. How do you manage all of those topics and postings? Does anyone else here use both?
