Michael,

If your carb is like lots of others, you are having a leak from where the
throttle shaft comes through the base. That needs to be repaired by bushing it
and is done by the better rebuilders (is it a Q-Jet?).

Subject: Re: Fw: [FGF] Overheating Problems 1969 Firebird - Do I need a new
Radiator?

I had only water which was dumb - the old radiator did have some nastiness
at its bottom insides. The new coolant with the new radiator looks very
nice - no nast color - so in the end I;m ok with the radiator switchout -
just hoping I didnt cause any rust problems in the engine itself from the
water for 4 years............... heater core is probably ok - car has no
rust issues and that heater works like a still - no leaks.

now my carb is leaking a very slight amount ouf gas on the passenger side at
the base right where the flaps "hinge" is located. just enough to dampen
the carb metal and for me to have noticed when I was trying to figure out my
bog problem.. I know nothing about carbs - is this an easy fix for me or
would it require a total rebuild anyway once you are into it?

Note - the carb was a rebuild when i dropped it in 4 years ago - it looks
brand new otherwise.
