Usually the bog at tip-in (when you first take off) is caused by a bad
pump (not the engine fuel pump but the little pump found in the carb that
sends a squirt of gas in when you first apply throttle). It has a leather
piece on the plunger that can disintegrate or shrivel so you get that
initial bog (a lean condition till the venturi action catches up).
You can get a rebuild kit and just try replacing that part without messing
with the rest and see if that fixes the bog.
