Disconnect the linkage and set them all in the neutral  position, it sounds 
like you have one in gear, maybe a  lever flipped over.  does it turn the same 
rotation as the motor or backwards?  There will be some residual turning  
simply because of cold grease. Is it on the ground? drive line connected and 
moves the car?  If not, start it :-)
