You might try some fine steel wool on the rust spots.

While I've got most of the parts out of the way I'm toying with the idea of putting new valve covers on my 69 400 because the originals have a few rust spots in the crevices. Does anyone have any feedback, good or bad, about the quality of aftermarket chrome valve covers original style? I see prices ranging from $20 to $155. Some say "no drippers". Should I get dripper version if I'm bothering to replace them?
