First Generation Firebird-L Mailing List ......................................................................... An early 70's block will have 5 holes on each side for motor mounts; 2 are for earlier model mounts, and the other 3 are for the later models. Our first gens use the 2 early holes. Then in the mid-late 70's, Pontiac only cast the new blocks with the 3 holes per side for the late model mounts.
I would also second the subframe question. Check that. Finally, loosen the motor mount bolts a good bit, and put the engine back on the hoist. Jack it up so it floats a bit, and then rock the back of the tranny till it falls over the mount. Bolt that sucker into the tranny mount, then drop the motor back into the cradle and then bolt the motor mounts again. Remember, you are using a LOT of aftermarket s**t. None of it is going to be perfect. :P Thomas -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]]on Behalf Of [email protected] Sent: Saturday, February 14, 2009 1:29 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [FGF] 70's Engine Motor Mounts First Generation Firebird-L Mailing List .........................................................................
