An early 70's block will have 5 holes on each side for motor mounts; 2 are
for earlier model mounts, and the other 3 are for the later models.  Our
first gens use the 2 early holes.  Then in the mid-late 70's, Pontiac only
cast the new blocks with the 3 holes per side for the late model mounts.

I would also second the subframe question.  Check that.

Finally, loosen the motor mount bolts a good bit, and put the engine back on
the hoist.  Jack it up so it floats a bit, and then rock the back of the
tranny till it falls over the mount.  Bolt that sucker into the tranny
mount, then drop the motor back into the cradle and then bolt the motor
mounts again.

Remember, you are using a LOT of aftermarket s**t.  None of it is going to
be perfect.  :P
