Oh, I agree. Plan before/during construction and make sure you build what
you need for later into it now. If you want to pull engines without a
hoist, make sure you have load-bearing beams built into your ceilings, etc.

And yes, it's a GREAT time to build now... A REALLY good time. I only wish
I didn't move LAST year. (Doh! Don't think about that....)

Thomas,

I don't believe anyone has money coming out of their ears these days but if
you are going to build now is the time to do it when trades people are
readily available. What I am suggesting is do the basic shop within your
personal budget but rough in, wire, plumb for future expansion once the
funds become available. Speaking from personal experience It is much easier
to rough in a bathroom or wire in a security system during construction then
after the fact.

A little planning for future expansion makes life much simpler in the long
run.

.....and yes I do thank my blessings every day and will continue to work
towards owning my lavish shop someday.....that's one of the things that
motivates me to get out of bed in the morning. (-;

Geesh, you guys must have money coming out of your ears. :) Your
garage/shop specs would cost more than lots of folks houses. :-O

My suggestion. Be reasonable.

Yes, it will NEVER be big enough, no matter how big you build it.

I built my 69 Bird in a 20x20 standard 2-car garage attached to my old
house. Nothing special about it. I did it without an air compressor, or a
lift, built in HVAC, etc, etc.

Let's count our blessings that we can dream to have these lavish "shops"
when other folks don't have any homes over their heads.
