Bjorn, A Volvo 850 Turbo Wagon or V70 is tough to beat as a safe, reliable family car. Looks great & plenty of cargo space! My '96 has 151,000 (well maintained) miles and runs like new. As you well know (owning a C70), they are a pleasure to drive anywhere, especially on road trips. Also they can get 30+ mpg, depending on the driver.
