Well being a kid in my 20's... I can say that a lot of the cars mentioned
wouldn't be my pick.
If I was going to be getting an American car, it would have to be one of the
SUVs. My GF's Explorer is AMAZING! Tows things well and has enough power to
get up and go. However with the V6 on a long drive we can average about 22
MPG.

As silly as it sounds, I LOVE my Subaru WRX. Turbo, 5 Speed, 4 doors,
handles very well, AWD, 27-28 mpg on the interstate. I love the car, and
after 200k miles it is still going strong!

They make non-turbo cars with AWD (as all of their cars are) that are still
a lot of fun to drive and very dependable.

As for other cars, an early e46 BMW is getting to be really cheap, fun,
reliable and safe transportation. I've though many times I might get one of
those.

The other thing would be a truck!

A GTO would be fun, but not practical....
