Help!  What are the symptoms of a bad combo proportioning valve/brake pressure
differential switch?

Here's a little background.  About two years ago a rear cylinder sprung a leak
and I lost the fluid in the rear circuit.  I replaced the wheel cylinder and
had fits getting it to bleed -- the light simply wouldn't turn off.  So, in
true American fashion, I unplugged it until I could get back to it.  When I
returned a few weeks later and plugged it back in, the light stayed off and I
merrily drove on (it's my daily driver).

Fast forward to a few weeks ago.  The master cylinder leaked and rotted out the
power booster so I replaced them both.  I didn't have any trouble bleeding the
system and it has worked fine.  Until tonight.  I was driving along, and while
coming to a stop at an intersection I felt a "pop" sensation in my foot; when I
released the pedal the light came on.  I about wet my pants but managed to keep
going and it seems to drive just fine.  But the light stays on.

I can't find any apparent leaks.  Does this sound like a bad prop valve?

By the way -- my 'bird is a mostly-original-ish 3/4 ton long-bed with heavy
duty power front disc/rear drum.  It's a '71 model -- so it's almost first gen,
right?

Thanks.
