Larry, I'm not sure I'm following a couple parts of your explanation. Do you have a pic of the U-shape clearance and the alignment with the "heave reinforcing rod in the spring"? Thanks, Sheen The hog rings pull the reinforced part of the seat naterial (from the rear of the material) against the wire hoop in the spring, the thin cotton batting is cut out in a U shape for clearance.
