First Generation Firebird-L Mailing List

Hi Joe...
Am going to try that ..thx for the tip. Was the master cylinder the same
part number for 1967-69 firebirds with front discs? The parts guys books
show listings for 1967 but not for 68 or 69. I honestly didn't think it
would be this much of a challenge...lol. I found one I could put on that
would work yesterday but it is not even close to the appearence of the
original style...so I just have to be patient.
Rick

Rick,
I ran into the same sort of issue on my 67.
Manual and power have different depths. A 3/8's bolt with the head cut
off
is the same diameter as the push rod. So that is an option...
Or: a corvette uses the same master cylinder as our cars and they had
manual
disk brakes.
I believe that manual disk brakes have a shallow hole and power has a deep
hole.
Just go to the parts store a tell them you need a master cylinder for a 67
68 69 corvette with non power brakes.
That's what I did.
And, people, please, I know that corvettes had 4 wheel disks, that's why
we
have the hold off valve for the disk drum combo.. it's the same MC for all
disk brake cars.
