Hello All!

Please help! American Auto Wire insists that the wire looms/harnesses I
bought from them are correct. I don¹t believe they are. For instance, on a
400 Firebird w/o ac, should the wires for the water temp gauge and the
cut-off be routed along the upper part of the wheel well under the fender
and be in the same harness as the generator wires ‹ or should they come from
the fire wall and be placed in the Delcotron retainer along the inside of
the driver side valve cover?

Also, when using the yellow and the pink/black wires provided by American
Auto Wire in their engine loom/harness, and shown as correct in the
literature, I get less than 5 volts on the positive side of the coil when I
turn the key to start (it goes without saying the car will not start). The
car starts and runs quite well when I run a wire directly from the ignition
switch to the coil, at which time I have 12.7 volts at the coil, but I hear
the horn relay click in briefly when I turn the off key ‹ and the engine
diesels/runs backwards (the latter detected by Don Johnson when he did my
carb last week).

Any ideas, anyone?

Thanks!

Bo
