First Generation Firebird-L Mailing List ......................................................................... Hi Andy,
Thanks for responding! You might be able to solve a major mystery for me. Anti-diesel... Is that the solenoid mounted to the front of the quad Rochester on the driver side? If so, what is it's function? My engine, which was recently rebuilt by a top machine shop, 'diesels' (runs backwards) a revolution or two when I turn off the ignition key. Could a faulty solenoid cause that? Also, when I turn off the ignition key, regardless if the engine is running, the horn relay is momentarily engaged. Compared to the above, the placement of the wires is less significant. However, after having made a stink at American Auto Wire, I would like to be correct(ed). In your original 68 harness, do the generator, water temp. and solenoid wires run under the fender and forward to a point adjacent to the generator and then over to it, or do they appear from a harness by the firewall near the distributor and then continue forward alongside the inboard side of the driver side valve cover? Thanks!!!!
