Hi Guys - HELP :)

I am stumped - I have a 78 CJ5 with the straight 6 258. It has an
Offenhauser intake, with a Holley 390 4barrel. It ran great for 15 years,
but last summer developed a persistent running really badly problem - last
summer I was spraying weeds using the Jeep to slowly(2mph) drive around the
lot with a sprayer on the back. It ran great, then after about 4 hours of
this, it started bogging and dieing. On regular drives it would also
frequently just bog down and die while driving down the road. Then, if I
pulled over and waited a minute it would start up and drive another mile
then die again. I thought I fixed by installing a BRAND NEW Holley carb,
fuel pump, fuel filter and battery. Now, I was plowing the drive and it
started the same behavior.

Also, after I restart it, I can rev it to say 4000rpm however if I keep it
there for more than 15 seconds it will eventually backfire/sputter and die
right out.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Mark Lueker
