hopefully you mean 1.4b2 and 3.

When you're running your page with Firebug. Make sure you first enable
Firebug on the page you're testing/debugging.

E.g.,
1. Open the webpage
2. Open Firebug
3. Reload the webpage

If you open Firebug without reloading, the console object doesn't get
injected and you won't get any logging/debug calls.
