I'm not sure about this. I clicked 'Off for all pages' from the
context menu of status bar and still find that the html inspector
frames are appearing on newly opened domains. Clearly the fault is
mine for not knowing how your interface expects me to interact with
it...so I come asking - How do I convince Firebug that I don't want
it's inspectors on any pages of a given domain?

You realize that is an admission that Firebug is no longer 'day-to-day
browsing friendly'.
