I have the same problem. I am trying to install firebug 1.4.5 on FF 3.3.5 (danish) on a Vista machine. It shows up in Firefox>Tools>Addons, but states that it is going to be installed on the next restart, but nothing happens when I restart FF - it still isn't installed, and still states that it's going to be installed on next restart.
