I had a similiar situation - when I disabled an addon called "TabKit" (v0.5.8) http://code.google.com/p/tabkit/ it worked again ... it has been reported to the author of Tab Kit here ... http://code.google.com/p/tabkit/issues/detail?id=37&can=1&q=Firebug
