Not sure if I understand correctly, but "Open in new tab" is an action
available in the Net panel, is that what you have in mind?

Here is what I have just tested:

0) Firefox 5, Firebug 1.8.0
1) Enable the Net panel, Load http://getfirebug.com/
2) Switch to the Net panel
3) Right click on main.js
4) pick "Open in new tab" -> a new tab with http://getfirebug.com/js/main.js
URL is opened

Also if I right click on mainl.js following URL is copied in the
clipboard:
http://getfirebug.com/js/main.js

Does this scenario work for you?

If not, can you provide detailed steps of what you are doing?
