Hi there I'm having the same problem. I've actually uninstalled Firefox 6 and reinstalled with a new completely clean profile, and I still get the error: 'The add-on could not be installed because it does not mach the add-on Firefox expected' when trying to install from the Mozilla site, and the error: 'This add-on could not be installed because it appears to be corrupt' when trying to manually install the file 'firebug-1.8.1- fx.xpi'.
Very strange..
