Yes, it's surely a preference or another add-on, which causes problems. 
That's why I suggested that you go through the steps at the first aid page 
to track the problem down.

PS: FWIW I also have Adblock Plus installed and a bunch of other 
extensions, though didn't stumble over that problem yet.
