Hi,

I have a LAN connected to Internet through a Linux box. The Linux box has
ipfwadm tools (kernel 2.0.32), and no forwarding enabled. One interface
in LAN, the other is ppp.

Sockd enables most of services (ftp, telnet, http, etc.)

For performance issues, I want to setup an Apache proxy server that
enables LAN users to navigate in the web.

Here is the question:

If forwarding is disabled, I end up with connections from the LAN
to the proxy port, but no connection to the outside.

If forwarding is enabled, everything works fine.

What is wrong?

Apache listen to the LAN, but without forwarding, it doesn't make
connections trough the ppp interface.

If this is a silly question, or off-topic, please let me know (better with
an answer :-)

TIA
