                     Feds on Reported Mitnick
                 Deal: No Comment

                 By Elinor Mills

An assistant U.S. attorney refused to
comment Friday on reports that Kevin
Mitnick has agreed to plead guilty to
computer hacking charges as part of a plea
                 bargain.

                 The prosecutor, David Schindler, confirmed
that Mitnick's attorney filed a document
under seal this week but wouldn't comment
on its contents. Schindler said no court
hearing had been scheduled "as of now."

An Associated Press report said Mitnick's
                 attorney, Donald Randolph, confirmed the
plea bargain. Randolph did not return calls
to his office Thursday and Friday."

Like I said, plea bargain, no trial. And since HE said he did something
wrong...
I do agree on the unfair treatment, but that was neither the question nor
the issue at hand.

I can only think of ONE "hacker" that went to trial, and he was convicted by
a jury.

Tell that to kevin Mitnick. I'm not saying he didn't do anything wrong,
but depending on who you believe the charges may have been largely trumped
up and he certainly has been treated unfairly, whatever the case.
