So has anyone actually done this successfully themselves? The cables I
doctored resulted in the NIC / hub being confused about whether it had link
or not. As a result I didn't get any data. This is on an NT box, so it _may_
be OS specific, but I would have imagined that it would be a pervasive
problem...

Is there a trick?
