As I mentioned, snipping Tx kills link to what ever hub/switch you are
connected to. If the port does not initialize, the device will not forward
traffic to the promiscuous system.
Think of plugging the system into a hub/switch with no power cable and
you'll get the idea. This "trick" does not work in a twisted pair world.
