I've been using/testing ZoneAlarm (firewall, application control, Internet lock,
dynamically assigned Security Levels and Zones) successfully with WinTooKay for
the past several days. It's free for personal use from ZoneLabs (on the web at
http://www.zonelabs.com/products.htm.)

Subject: Personal firewall/IDS for Win2K
Anyone know of a good personal firewall/IDS that will work with Win2K? The
older (non-Norton) version of AtGuard doesn't work with it. The newer one
says it doesn't work under NT at all (I hate Norton/Symantec). BlackIce says
they don't work under Win2K but they will have one soon that will. I never
trust 'real soon now' statements.
I know I'm getting scanned at home because I have AtGuard running on a
Windows 98 box on the same segment and I'm seeing scans there. Nothing
serious yet but I know they are coming and I'd like to be as protected as I
can be.
I had thought of using my mail/web server (minimal traffic on my personal
domain) as a firewall box but I've become rather taken with the
functionality and reporting of the personal firewalls (specifically
AtGuard).
Any thoughts would be most welcome.
Ric
