Hmmmm, I sense hostility.  I read Robert reply to mean "Class A with an
additional 16 bits of subnetting used."  In other words, I thought Robert
said that the address was indeed class A, but that the provided subnet mask
meant the address was subnetted with 16 bits of netmask beyond the natural
mask of a class A (and 8 natural + 16 additional = 24 bits).  Certainly
nothing there to cause such hostility in response from you.  Maybe I read
too much into Robert's answer, though.
