Actually some personal firewall and IDS products can take the heat.. :)  I 
thought Greg Shipley conducted some performance testing a little while ago.

Some vendor neutral consulting company should be able to stress test, if 
all things are equal.. None of that bathing suit competition tricks (no use 
of scotch tape)
