What are you trying to accomplish? At least with the 2.0.x and I believe 2.2.x kernels there is a switch in the configuration process <CONFIG_IP_TRANSPARENT_PROXY if I recall correctly> that supplies the ability to do port redirection, perhaps this is what you are seeking? It's all in the provided documentation... <man ipchains searching for redirection might be the pointer you seek>. Unless I'm reading your request incorrectly?
