Microsoft also released a new tool today. The Microsoft Baseline Security Analyzer, Its only good For MS Servers of course but seems to do a reasonably credible job of scanning its servers for vulnerabilities - Whats nice about it is that it points you at the fixes and patches for the problems it finds so its fairly idiot proof.

Their firewall product is a good example, they needed firewalls for MSN and other Internet services so they enhanced their Web cache service to include firewall capabilities. It seems judging from the press releases and the number of security positions Microsoft has been hiring that Microsoft is intent on resolving the security issues with their products but it also looks like they intend to use that expertise to produce marketable products as well. It's going to be an up hill battle for them though.
