Can't say where these guys got their information but I do have some first hand knowledge of Hotmail. When Microsoft bought Hotmail it was using BSD for the front end. Microsoft replaced or at least is in the process of replacing the BSD systems with NT and IIS front ends. I know there are multiple hosting sites for Hotmail. The one I use has this signature <!-- V: WIN2K 09.04.15.0018 i --> for the front end boxes.
