Oops, the last sentence is wrong.  I forgot that you can always do
Alt-y to recall earlier items from the kill ring.

I guess an interesting question is whether the kill ring should be
saved when fish exits (and/or shared through fishd).  It seems useful
and consistent to do it but then the duplication of functionality with
history is more obvious.
