Greetings, listers
We have been driving one of our mares lately who has been
used mostly undersaddle. She's going well, and we even find her
more willing to canter pulling the meadowbrook that she is under
saddle. We are using a Camptown biothane buggy harness with a
5 inch egg butt snaffle bit (the one she is used to when riding). The
bridle head stall is cut to fit around the ears, and there is no
overcheck.
However, she has had a tendancy to both shake her head side
to side (as if she were shaking off a fly) and "throw" her head (up
and down mostly rather than side to side). Sometimes she will
lower her head as well and just trot along in that position until we
correct her. In all other ways, she is going good, no bucking or
other misbehavior.
Any suggestions about what I may be doing wrong, or why she
is doing this? I think I recall some previous posts that have talked
about this, but don't remember the suggested reasons.
        Bill Coli
