I think I understand now, if you have a large html text body and you want to truncate it so that only a blurb of the whole is displayed, you could use, say, 10 with the reduce(10) function, and have only 10 percent of the text displayed? Or 10 percent of the text truncated? I feel like I could be right on, and totally off too...
